My name is Josie Coffman and I’m a Graphic Designer, UX/UI Designer, & Fine Artist. I was born and raised in the South (Montgomery, AL to be exact) which naturally comes with a love for the outdoors. As I have grown in wisdom and age I have also developed a keen interest in the study of overall health and nutrition. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2015 where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Nutrition & Foods. I try to incorporate these two interests into my work whenever possible. An example of this can be seen in a series I named “Think About It,” which directly targets the benefits of eating the best foods that fuel specific parts of the body. I enjoy painting as a stress reliever and find pleasure in letting go on the canvas to produce beautiful, heart-provoking pieces rather than over thinking the work in front of me. This allows me to enjoy the little details, layers, and depth that I bring to my work. For me, art is life. It’s a lens that I see the world through differently.
I began my career as a graphic designer at Elbit Systems of America located in Talladega, AL where I received a year-long Co-Op. I was able to learn some of the ebb and flow of corporate marketing as I worked to update all of Elbit’s marketing materials. Upon graduation I was hired on at Graham & Company, LLC with the title of Graphic Designer where I decided to focus on my career full-time. I have most recently left my position at Graham to pursue a UX Research/Design position and am excited to seize a new opportunity in this field of design as part of BBVA Compass' User Experience Design Team. I am constantly looking to expand my skill set every chance I get and seizing on the opportunities that my work and freelance can provide.
My specialties include Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, some HTML/ CSS, fine art to include the use of oils and watercolors, and mixed media. I am also currently interested in UX/UI design and am taking courses to further my knowledge. Please check out some of my freelance projects and let me know if you’d like something done!
